RHAM Lightning/Rising Star Youth lacrosse program for players in 1st and 2nd. This girls program provides instruction and casual scrimmage with teams of the same age group within our program and with a few surrounding town programs. Players will participate in our Rising Stars program which emphasizes development of skills and understanding of the game over competition, fun rather than score is the focus. Full equipment will be required to participate to protect the players. Players will practice and participate in mini drills and 4 on 4 or 7 on 7 activities against other teammates playing offensive and defensive positions. Play is on a modified lacrosse field to allow the focus to be on increasing the number of touches each player gets with these skills. This is a primarily a practice and mini scrimmage against our own team program, to allow players to learn the skills and development necessary to participate in future years in the more competitive divisions were more progressive focus is placed on games than just development. However, in an effort to allow the players in the Lightning Division the opportunity to enjoy the spirt of the game with other teams from around the area. The Coach might schedule an occasional scrimmage with another town. Parents please understand this is a not a competitive division please do not make more of these opportunities than it is supposed to be. No one ever got recruited for College in the 1st or 2nd grade, let the kids just have fun. The spring season usually begins in late March and concludes in early June. Start times are determined by weather and the ability to get outside on the fields. However generally the program runs on Saturday Mornings for 90 minutes.
